Traditional dim sum has been evolving over the last few decades as customers’ palates change. The Peninsula Hong Kong in conjunction with Young Post will be hosting The Dim Sum Young Talent Competition 2014 which aims to inject new energy and creativity into this style of cooking by nurturing a new generation of budding young chefs, and inspiring them with the support of some of the city’s food industry leaders. The champion will receive a two-year apprenticeship to learn from the world's finest dim sum chefs at The Peninsula Hotels.

Send us a photo of one dim sum item you have created, accompanied with a recipe and an article of up to 100 words in Chinese or English telling us the story behind your dim sum, and illustrating your passion for traditional Chinese dishes, and submit to yp.scmp.com/peninsula2014 before 30 June 2014
- Workshop - Ten shortlisted contestants will be invited to attend a full-day workshop on 17 July 2014 to learn the dim sum making techniques and the career prospect in the dim sum industry. Contestants will be required to create two different dim sum items for four judges. The dishes will be judged and the top five semi-finalists will proceed to the final competition.
- Final competition - Five finalists will be required to create a selection of four dim sum items in the final competition on early September 2014. Results will be announced at the end of the final competition.
