We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

Would anyone just want Shawn to think Hong Kong was all about soaring skyscrapers, incessant cacophony and making money? Of course not! There is different side to Hong Kong. It is filled with unrecognized endless greenery. This is it’s the real treasure. I can Show You (see what I did there) the beauty in Hong Kong’s nature.

First, I would take Shawn to Sai Kung. We would walk around the shops and markets and immerse him in Hong Kong's unique culture. Next, 吃飯啊? Ready to eat? There is a plethora of places to beckon your taste buds.

After stuffing our faces, we would go to where I found the second love of my life (Shawn being the first), my dog. It’s called Sai Kung stray friends foundation. It’s out in the country side at Sai Kung. The owner Narell Pamuk runs the foundation with the help of a few staff members and volunteers. They house over 100 dogs and do their best to shelter, feed and ultimately home the dogs. My family supports them and we adopted one of our dogs from there. I think volunteering there in the afternoon would be a great since he would be able to see the verdant scenery of Hong Kong while walking the dogs and also have a way to give back.

Next stop is Mong Kok. It’s full of street food, new gadget’s and the famous ladies market to shop for souvenirs. By the time we are done at Mong Kok we can show what Hiong Kong Is famous for. Our public transport. I would take him on the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui and take the star ferry to central to see the Illuminating light show.

I think this would really be a great opportunity to experience the real Hong Kong. It will give Shawn the opportunity to see the rural Hong Kong and the Urban Hong Kong.
