We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

I am a huge fan of Shawn Mendes. A cool singer who not only loves to cook but is such an adventurous foodie. I would love to connect Shawn to Hong Kong through food. I would take him to traditional dim sum restaurants after a morning at Bird street in Mong Kok, indulging him in delicious steamed and baked treats that will really touch his heart, which is the real meaning of dim sum. He can soak in the atmosphere in one of charming corners of the city, full of local flavour. A real enjoyable quintessential traditional Hong Kong Experience.

Cooking in Hong Kong would be a terrific different adventure for Shawn. I would take him to the ABC cooking school and to City Super cooking school in Tsim Sha Tsui. Shawn can learn to cook a variety of diverse dishes, symbolising Hong Kong’s diversity. Afterwards, I would treat him to his indulgence:- chocolate desserts at the award winning Restaurant Atelier de Joel Robuchon. I am sure Shawn will be so giddy with envy and would feel he is free falling to Chocolate heaven.

Hong Kong being such a gorgeous city and blessed with the most beautiful skyline in the entire world, Shawn will see the modern Hong Kong on an evening cruise on the Star Ferry to appreciate the beauty of the Victoria Harbour and be impressed by all the lasers, search lights, skylights and sometimes fireworks of the Symphony of the Lights, the multi media show, involving more than 40 buildings on both sides of the harbours which I will show him from the vantage of the Avenue of the Stars. Maybe just maybe, Hong Kong can help inspire Shawn to creating some original HK style lighting in his upcoming show, that is totally wicked, rad and breathtaking!
