We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

If I had a chance to have a day out with Shawn Mendes, I would take him to places in which he can experience the culture of Hong Kong and thus he can have a good memory of his stay in the city.

In the morning, I would take him to a ‘Cha Chaan Teng' for breakfast. ‘Cha Chaan Teng’ is one of Hongkongers’ favourite kinds of restaurants. It provides a variety of Hong Kong style foods such as the pineapple bun, club sandwich and milk tea. A mouth-watering breakfast can give Shawn energy to start the day.

After eating breakfast, we would go to Wan Chai to have a look at a precious thing in Hong Kong - the tenement houses. Many of these historic buildings were built during the colonial age. Their architectural design is a combination of the western and Chinese culture. Therefore, this is a unique and essential part of the Hong Kong magnificent history and I hope Shawn can learn more about the city.

As Shawn is a singer-songwriter, I think he is interested in the music culture of Hong Kong therefore we would go to Mong Kok next. Mong Kok is one of the most densely populated areas in the world and we can feel the exciting and bustling urban life. I think this is the best place to represent Hong Kong. Also, there are a lot of performers busking in the pedestrian zone on holidays. I think he can be inspired through watching ‘Cantopop’ music performances in Mong Kok.

At dusk, we would ride the peak tram to the peak. We can see the most spectacular view of Hong Kong there. A lot of iconic buildings, like the International Finance Centre, Bank of China Tower and the HSBC Main Building can be seen on the viewing platform. We can also watch the sunset and take photographs with the gorgeous view.

Hong Kong is a wonderful mix of the western and Chinese culture. The day out provides Shawn with an impressive experience. I am sure Hong Kong has a lot of amazing things to offer to Shawn.
