We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

Hong Kong is labelled as a food lover’s heaven by many, with its many Asian and Western fusion dishes, so what better way to start off the late morning than having a cup of milk tea with boba, egg waffles and egg tarts? I would first take Shawn to Mong Kok and try some of Hong Kong’s specialties, teaching him the Cantonese pronunciations of the food names and explaining what each food item is.

Whilst munching on the delicious food, I would take him through the street markets of Mong Kok, specifically the famous Ladies Market, to take a look at the many trinkets from the stalls, and maybe even buy an item or two as a souvenir.

The Peak - one of Hong Kong’s must-go places, would be our next stop. This would be the perfect time to go there, overlooking the breathtaking view of Hong Kong Island as the sun sets, watching the blue sky slowly being painted over with pink and orange hues.

Tsim Sha Tsui would be our next destination, where I would take Shawn to Dim Sum Icon to try the character-themed dim sum for dinner, such as Spongebob Squarepants shrimp dumplings and custard buns. It would be fun to eat a famous dish in Chinese cuisine but with a cute and quirky twist.

To get a taste of what the local life is like, we would both then head to the Star Ferry Pier to watch some street performances, whether that be singing, dancing, or even juggling.

The night would end with us at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade watching a Symphony of Lights while admiring Hong Kong’s well known skyline, and perhaps a photo to remember for him to remember his travels here by.
