YCH Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School celebrated their victory at the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Football Tournament 2015-2016.

YCH Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School (YCH) were crowned champions of the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Football Tournament 2015-2016, beating Jockey Club Ti-I College 1-0 in the final at Po Kong Village Road Park today.

The teams were tied 0-0 after the first 35-minute half of fierce competition as both teams’ defence was impressive, and there were not many opportunities for members of either team to score.

In the second half, YCH's Ma Ming-chun, 18, scored the winning goal to secure the championship, sparking wild celebrations among their fans.

"When I have chances to score, I will make it happen. I’m delighted with the result, as it’s my last year to represent my school, so it’s time to play my best football," says Ming-chun.

YCH’s captain Au Man-lok, 18, was named the tournament’s most valuable player (MVP). "We put a lot of effort into the defence; it’s really important to communicate well with the goalkeeper. Our training sessions also focus on basic techniques like passing. I’m happy to see our efforts paid off," he says.

YCH’s coach Cristiano Cordeiro said Jockey Club Ti-I College team members were physically strong and it was hard for YCH to get through them and score.

"We played against each other before and we know how they play. We just keep trying to do our stuff, like trying to penetrate and finally succeed. I think they did very well," says Cordeiro.
