A delicious treat at the HeSheEat Cafe.

Are you tired of going to the same dessert shops in your area? In Hong Kong, it might be difficult to find good dessert shops, most of which are tucked away in the corners of the city. No worries, Young Post is here to give you a hand. Here are seven wonderful dessert shops that offer more than just your standard ice-cream. Try them all - but don't blame us if you can't fit into your jeans later!

Taiwanese treats at Teawood.

Teawood

Hong Kong has picked up the Taiwanese "honey toast" trend, which may have led to the recent popularity of the Taiwanese cafe, Teawood. The cafe offers a wide variety of traditional Taiwanese cuisine, such as stewed beef noodles, "fusion" pasta, and of course, the star of the menu, the honey toast. The toast is available in a range of flavours and styles, with strawberry vanilla, chocolate vanilla, and mango fudge among the many choices. The restaurant itself is very simple and clean, but still presented in a way that makes you want to stay longer and maybe have another cup of tea.
Location: 2/F, Carnarvon Plaza, 20 Carnarvon Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Tel: 2780 2321
Do try: chocolate vanilla honey toast

Oddies Foodies (Wan Chai)

Oddies Foodies is an ice cream shop that serves a unique combination of the typical soft-serve gelato, the Italian version of ice cream, along with other desserts. For example, the Night Wolf is a combination of chocolate chip eggettes and a chocolate vanilla swirl. Other options which have been previously offered include the Homer, a Simpsons-inspired gelato topped with an iced doughnut, and the Gummm, a Lunar New Year-themed gelato topped with mandarin cream cheese panna cotta. The shop itself is very small, with no seats available. While the decor is very plain, there is a decorated area on the side that is designed to make a good background for those who want to take photos.
Location: 149 Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai
Tel: 9551 7972
Do try: their trademark gelato, the Night Wolf

Traditional Chinese dessert at Asia Po Bean Curd.

Asia Po Bean Curd

When walking along the streets of Tai Po, you may easily miss this small, takeaway stall, serving delicious Hong Kong-styled bean curd. The soft and smooth texture of the bean curd contrasts with the crunchy sugar layer on top - a treat you definitely must try. The place gives an insight into Hong Kong's culture, with customers shouting out their orders to the workers; it's more like a stall than a conventional restaurant. This is the place to go if you're looking for some traditional Hong Kong food.
Location: Shop 2A, Tai Kwong Lane, Tai Po
Tel: n/a
Do try: the only thing they offer - bean curd!

The Pudding Nouveau

Contrary to its name, The Pudding Nouveau does not actually serve pudding. Instead, they serve desserts such as chocolate fondant, lemon parfait, mixed berries panna cotta, banana chocolate parfait, and cookies and cream waffles and ice cream. Though quite expensive compared to other restaurants, the portions are larger. The Pudding Nouveau is difficult to find and is a 10-minute walk from Causeway Bay MTR station, but the environment is very welcoming and homey; perfect if you're catching up with a friend, or on a date.
Location: G/F, 17A King Street, Tai Hang
Tel: 3585 7325
Do try: the cookies and cream waffles and ice cream! The waffles have a fluffy texture and taste really good. Coming red-hot straight from the kitchen, they offer a stark contrast to the cool vanilla ice cream.

Lab Made (Tai Hang)

Lab Made is Hong Kong's first liquid nitrogen ice cream and drink dessert shop. They have different flavours of ice cream that alternate daily, such as mint chocolate chip, mango, and passion fruit, as well as drinks such as the pina colada. Lab Made is a must-go place when the weather is hot and you're dying to cool down. The atmosphere is quite simple but comfortable, although  getting there means a long walk from Causeway Bay.
Location: G/F, 6, Brown Street, Tai Hang
Tel: 3462 6528
Do try: chocolate and mint ice cream (when it's available!)

Everything is rosy at Rosie's Cafe.

Rosie's Cafe (Sha Tin)

Located in a corner in Sha Tin, Rosie's Cafe offers mouth-watering pancakes and hotcakes, with a variety of savoury and sweet treats for those who are looking for a dessert alternative. The pancakes come in flavours such as mixed berry custard, prosciutto and parmesan cheese, and hotcakes in flavours such as chocolate and banana, apple cinnamon with caramel syrup, or smoked salmon and avocado. Okay, some of those technically aren't desserts, but they're yummy anyway! The place is cosy and inviting, with warm lighting and jazzy music. If you're a fan of pancakes, Rosie's Cafe is your place!
Location: Shop A305, Level 3, New Town Plaza, Phase 3, Sha Tin Centre Street, Sha Tin
Tel: 2598 1233
Do try: the smoked salmon and avocado hotcake, and the banana and chocolate pancake

HeSheEat Cafe

HeSheEat Cafe serves appetising Western desserts such as waffles, ice cream, cake and panna cotta, with a range of flavours including green tea, chocolate, toffee nut, and lychee yogurt. They've also got drinks such as toffee coffee frappuccino. Visiting the cafe is considered a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth. The cafe's minimalist interior decor creates a classy atmosphere, and is the ideal spot for studying or relaxing with friends.
Location: Shop 201, 2/F, Causeway Bay, 2-10 Great George Street, Causeway Bay
