On Friday, November 7, Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy, Consul General of France in Hong Kong, Mr. Thierry Mariani, Member of the National Assembly of France for French Residents Overseas and Mr. Patrick Ténèze, Foreign Affairs Ministry Representative for Education in Asia-Pacific, celebrated French International School's 50th anniversary with the opening of its Photo Exhibition as well as the launch of its History Book. They were joined by over 250 guests, including FIS alumni, former leaders, partners and community members.
With over 100 pieces gathered from former students, teachers and the school community, the 50th Anniversary Photo Exhibition takes us back in time while narrating countless historical moments of FIS. As Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy highlighted: “This special occasion provides a rare opportunity to gather everyone who contributed to the success of FIS, including those from the old days and those who are still devoting themselves every day.”
On the following Saturday, FIS hosted its 50th Anniversary celebration with the Heritage Race as the closing event. One hundred and sixty-five students, aged 10 to 18, raced from one of FIS’s former campuses, known as Béthanie, in Pok Fu Lam to the current secondary campus in Blue Pool Road.
This 10km relay race symbolized the inheritance of FIS traditions and legacy from one generation to the other. The event gathered hundreds of community members and was a tremendous success. Headmaster Mr. Christian Soulard expressed: “The closing events show the vitality of our school in the last 50 years. Moving forward, it encourages us to continue pursuing our mission with the same enthusiasm.”
