Lokie let his dad Qi Qi have a lick of his birthday cake

Ocean Park yesterday celebrated the first birthday of Lokie, the first-ever golden snub-nosed monkey born in Hong Kong. Lokie’s caretakers gave him with a birthday cake made from his favourite iced fruits, and a special carved pumpkin, which he shared with his parents, mum Le Le and dad Qi Qi.

Lokie was born on April 17, 2017, and soon had a coat of grey fur. That fur has changed colour over the past year, first to brown, and now he has thick coat of fur that is more golden in colour. He weighs about 3kg. He is playful and curious, and has learned to groom himself, and his parents. Some of his favourite foods include peanuts and choi sum.

His birthday celebration was held at the park’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures, an area next door to the parks giant panda, An An.
