Hong Kong is expecting a rainy weekend and plunging temperatures early next week after a sunny New Year.

It will remain cold early next week as a surging winter monsoon continues to bring cold weather to the region.

Temperatures will range between 16 and 20 degrees over the weekend, and fall to a low of 10 degrees on Tuesday, according to weather charts.

The mercury will then start to climb again next Wednesday, with a maximum temperature of 16 degrees, but it will remain “cold in the morning” till Friday.

The city welcomed in 2018 with mild weather and some sunshine on Monday and the good weather stretched through to Wednesday.
