What do you like best about the winter?
Since the temperature has dropped and it finally feels like winter, we asked our readers what they liked best about the coldest season of the year. Here are the best answers ...
1. Hang out to dry
It takes ages for wet clothes to dry in the summer because of the high humidity. But during winter, they dry much more quickly. No more waiting around for your laundry!
Marcus Leung Siu-hin, 14, Carmel Secondary School
2. A warm meal with family
I enjoy eating hot food to warm myself up. I love the feeling of warmth spreading from my stomach to my entire body. What's better than eating hot pot with your family in a warm restaurant when it's cold outside? It's such a cosy moment that I look forward to every winter.
Tong Wong Wai-pan, 16, St Paul's Co-educational College
3. Straight to the point
For me, wintertime is when nature replaces the foggy humidity with precision and accuracy: crisp air, sharply-defined tree branches and carefully wrapped Christmas presents. It may be chilly, but I find comfort in the clarity of winter.
May Huang, 17, Chinese International School
4. Saved from the smell
When you're on the train in the summer, you can always smell that awful odour of someone else's sweat. But during winter, nobody is sweating. And even if someone is, you can't smell it because of the layers of clothes they have on.
Leung Wing-chi, 16, Jockey Club Ti-I College
5. Snug as a bug in a rug
My favourite thing about winter has got to be those chilly nights, where you grab a couple of cotton-stuffed blankets and roll yourself up in them. It also means I can use my phone under the blankets without my parents becoming suspicious.
Tayyab Shahzada, 15, Sha Tin College
6. Where's the magic?
There's nothing to like about winter in Hong Kong. Unlike the romantic, filtered photos of winter on Tumblr and Instagram, there are no glittering expanses of snow or frosted leaves. Hong Kong's winter is simply cold and wet without an ounce of magic. Or maybe it's just that I'm typing this out on my phone stuck in the cold rain at a bus stop.
Annette Kim, 15, Chinese International School
7. I'm not getting out of bed
In my opinion, the best thing about winter is that you can pretend to have a cold to avoid school. It's easy to catch a cold in winter, so it's the best season for acting sick. Just groan and claim to feel bad when your mum tries to get you out of bed!
Tiffany Yip, 14, Heep Yunn School
8. Wrapping things up
It's cold enough to wrap myself up in warm woolly sweaters like a burrito. Then I enjoy a nice warm cup of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows, of course.
Hua Yuk-ting, 15, South Island School
9. I'll get my coat
It's too humid in spring, too hot in summer, and autumn is hoodie season. So winter's the only time I get to wear a coat. I have this really nice one that makes me feel like Sherlock.
Sharon Cheng, 15, King George V School
10. A mozzy massacre
Now that winter is here, there will be no more little bloodthirsty vampires buzzing around and biting you. Say goodbye to the sleepless nights spent swatting mosquitoes away. Sweet dreams!
Peter Bei, 17, Carmel Secondary School
