You can say that again!

You can say that again!

Tomorrow, July 20, is the 40th anniversary of Bruce Lee's death. As a tribute to Hong Kong's martial arts icon, we asked our readers for their favourite Bruce Lee quote. Here are their answers ...

1. Timely reminder

"I fear not the man who has practised 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practised one kick 10,000 times."

This holds true for all who practise an art. Very wise words indeed.

Jade Lam, 16

2. Healthy attitude

"Chinese are not the sick men of Asia."

China pride!

Helen Wu Yan-hang, 15

3. Glorious failure

"Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail."

This quote about accepting failure is my favourite as it is one of my mottos as well. Aim high, but get rid of your ego!

Jack Sze, 19

4. Fact of life

"If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made of."

Yeah, I should probably stop scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed now ...

Ruby Leung, 16

5. Sky's the limit

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there; you must go beyond them."

It always reminds me not to let anyone limit my own life. The only thing limiting us is the limits we put on ourselves!

Harry Cheng, 17

6. Sparkling future

"You just wait. I'm going to be the biggest Chinese star in the world."

And the confident star predicted right!

Giselle Chan Cheuk-ying, 17

7. It's all yours

"Add what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own."

Mizuki Nishiyama, 14

8. That does it!

"Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do."

This is especially true during preparations for exams.

Heidi Kwan, 16

9. Scary screech

Here it is, the most exciting and inspirational quote of Bruce Lee, appearing in almost every single movie of his ... the marvellous "Yaaaaaaaaaou!" That cry, with him wiping his nose, will surely scare anyone away!

Kate Ng, 17

10. High esteem

"Knowledge will give you power, but character respect."

This is an extremely meaningful quote. Just being smart and powerful doesn't make you worthy of respect!

Liam Fung, 11
