Golden idea

I’d buy a million dollars’ worth of gold. It’s a great substitute for currency and would never lose its value!

It’s showtime!

I would take the next flight to New York, book a hotel, and watch as many Broadway musicals as I could. I’m a huge fan of musicals and I couldn’t be happier than watching Broadway shows all week long.

Swiss timing

First, I’d hide HK$100,000 under my pillow. During the rest of the week, I’d put the money into five different bank accounts in Switzerland. I’d try to negotiate the monthly interest rate and hopefully collect around
HK$10 million after five years.

Chilling out with YP

I would buy all of the Young Post newspapers, and challenge myself to read them all in one week, with chocolates and sweets as prizes! I would use the rest of the money on cats and dogs. I’m an animal-lover and soon I would be calmly chilling out with my pets and reading my favourite newspaper of
all time!

Helping hand

There’s a saying: “For it is in giving that we receive.” I would use the money to help the poor. I would buy clothes, food and other basic necessities and give them to the needy. Instead of spending on ourselves, why don’t we contribute to society and make Hong Kong a better place for all?

Building a career

I would spend all the money on studying. It has always been my dream to become an architect. With a million dollars, I would be able to pay for architectural programmes in Britain. After a few years of hard work, I would become an architect and build a residential tower in my hometown, Tai Po. So in the end, I would get the HK$1 million back, together with knowledge, popularity, and a sense of belonging to Hong Kong.

Star appeal with Andy Lau

I would like to spend the money on a big surprise for my grandma. She is a big fan of Canto-pop singer/actor Andy Lau Tak-wah. To make her happy, I would make a low-budget film starring Lau and my grandmother. I wouldn’t be able to pay Lau a lot, but I’m sure he would be OK with it. He is not a money-oriented guy; he’s always full of hope and love.

Robotic solution

I would buy a few domestic robots for my grandparents. We all should take care of our elderly family members. So when I am not around, the robots could help my grandparents with household chores. Also, the robots could talk to them and make them feel happy and cared for. I hope HK$1 million would be enough to buy the hi-tech robots I saw in the movie Interstellar!

Now you’re cooking!

I would invite the best chef in the world to cook for me. I want to eat delicious foods that I’ve never eaten before!

Ronald Suen, 15, Fung Kai Liu Man Shek Tong Secondary School

In the driver’s seat

I would buy my dad a car and let him drive me to school. Then I would never be late for school and I would never be punished again.
