Winter wondering: what are the best things about the coldest season?

This week, we asked our readers, what is the best thing about winter? Here are our favourite answers …

Hotpot happiness

In this cold weather, there's no denying that eating hotpot with your friends and family is the best thing ever. It's a good excuse to have a great time with your loved ones.

While waiting for the food to be cooked, you can catch up with the latest gossip. You will feel much warmer in so many ways thanks to hotpot. The winter dish will fill you up, and also create a cosy atmosphere among your friends and family!

There's snow business …

What is the best thing about winter? For sure, it must be snow. What a magnificent sight it must be, to see the snow falling. Even if it was very cold, I would go outside to check out the beautiful scene and have a snowball fight with friends.

Christmas wrap

Being tied to Christmas, winter is definitely one of my favourite times of the year! What's better than sipping hot chocolate beside the heater, and wearing new clothes while enjoying Christmas carols on cold days?

Happiness is sleeting

The best thing about winter would definitely have to be the fact that you get to wear hoodies and boots all season long and feel warm and cosy the whole time.

Simply slumber

I would say winter makes me really enjoy my sleep … so warm and so comfortable! At the same time, it "glues" me onto my bed. Oops!

A hug in a mug

Imagine staying at home drinking a mug of hot chocolate when it's cold. This would make me feel relaxed and blessed, helping me to recharge my batteries for spring and summer!

Festival frenzy

I think the best thing about winter is having two fantastic festivals to celebrate: Christmas and Lunar New Year! I love celebrating those festivals in cold weather: we stay out late at Christmas or Lunar New Year, have hot meals together, exchange gifts and cards, and share our love with family and friends ... it's brilliant!

Bulking season

What could be better than eating anything you want and not having to worry about your weight? In winter, we wrap ourselves in layers of thick clothes. They're my saviour, as they hide all the fat I gain from eating the fabulous food. I mean, come on! Who can resist a crispy turkey, candy canes, gingerbread men and a nice ice-cream hot pot? Yum!

Cold hands, warm heart

The best part of winter is Christmas! We can have a big meal with our friends and families. No matter how busy we are, Christmas is a chance to catch up with others, and send out warm-hearted blessings. That's why I love winter and Christmas. Even though winter is cold, our hearts are still warm!

Lai Yee-ting, 15, SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School

Endless excitement

The best thing about winter is Christmas and partying, receiving presents, and laughing all the way. I get to do things I usually don't do, and I don't have a lot of lessons. As some say, or sing: it's the most wonderful time of the year.
