A good combination of study, exercise and ample sleeping hours can help with exam stress

Dear Alex,

I do okay at school, but it's the thought of exams that freaks me out. I study hard, but when you actually get to the exam room and they hand you that piece of paper … that's when I have nightmares. What can I do?

Dear Stressed-out student,

Firstly, learn to control your body and mind long before you enter that exam room - that's half the battle won.

Going to bed early and daily exercise can help. You can read a book before going to sleep.

Here's another top trick: get some old exam papers from a friend or your teacher and "pretend" that you are taking an exam. And time yourself as you complete the paper.

Email your problems to [email protected], and watch for Alex's answers. And don't worry, you can remain anonymous.
