’Tis the season to be gaming!

Gamers rejoice! Hot days and 100 per cent humidity mean you have a perfect excuse to stay indoors and play video games! Here's the top games for this summer

Summer is finally here! While your parents may keep pestering you to go outside and "work up a sweat", I'm sure we would all prefer to be indoors in an air-conditioned room. Ideally with a bottle of soda, letting our eyes get redder as we destroy goblins. Or make that game-winning basket. Or speed away from the police, after robbing a highly-guarded bank. Whatever your thing is, here are the games that will keep your eyes glued to the screen for the season meant to be for the "outdoors".

The Sims 4

Genre: Simulator

Available Platforms: Windows, OS X

Rating: T

Developers Maxis and EA are back with their hit series that has had many of us glued to our seats trying to lead a normal life. As crazy as that sounds, The Sims series has been a big success. And The Sims 4 is no different. You create a "sim", with more options this time, allowing you to create the perfect character. New features include more social interactions. This lets players work on deeper and more complex relationships. There is also a new "emotions" system which changes the way your characters act. Prepare to become hopelessly addicted.

Destiny

Genre: First Person Shooter/Multiplayer

Available Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Rating: T

The Halo series was a huge hit, sending players deep into outer space combat, as well as having an interesting story. Game developer Bungie's departure from the franchise was disappointing for a lot of fans. But their next project, Destiny, has come out and now has its own fan base. Set in outer space, you can pick between three distinct classes. Each class has its own perks and weaknesses, allowing you to suit your play style to your character. Destiny also has a huge number of weapons to choose from. This makes finding that perfect one a very satisfying feeling. The whole game also operated as a multiplayer game, allowing you to interact with the outer world by yourself or with your friends. A great game to spend a lot of time with during summer!

NBA 2K15

Genre: Sport

Available Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows

Rating: T

Basketball is probably one of the most popular sports in Hong Kong. This game is the perfect way to decide who's actually best at the sport. You can set up a tournament with your friends or watch as your player reaches the high ranks of the NBA. NBA 2K15 is the perfect basketball experience, mixing realistic gameplay with stunning graphics. Why go play real basketball when you have it all at your fingertips?

Mario Kart 8

Genre: Racer/Family

Available Platforms: WiiU

Rating: E/+10

Nintendo strikes the jackpot again with this big franchise. All the classic characters race against each other in equally iconic Nintendo locations. But Mario Kart 8 has more gameplay features, including the ability to fly, new characters and new tracks. With the addition of these new items, Mario Kart 8 sets the bar high when it comes to family fun and rivalries between friends.

Super Smash Bros

Genre: Fighter/ Family

Available: 3DS, WiiU

Rating: E/+10

Another Nintendo classic. Smash Bros have added characters and take the action to the streets. The new characters are quite outrageous, such as the Wii Fit Trainer. But they do have more attack functions. The game now supports an eight-person multiplayer, so be sure to grab your friends and crowd around your couch for the whole summer.

With all these great games to choose from, what's the point of going outside?
