Y'all really on the ball, 5 new apps from young app makers

Your parents' generation may still grapple with email, but some creative young developers have come up with a new generation of fun apps

Bubble Ball

Who: Robert Nay, 14

What: A game where you need to get a little blue ball to the flag at the end of the level, using gravity and various other tools. Starts simple, gets really hard. Bubble Ball has been downloaded more than 16 million times and was even more popular than Angry Birds at one point.

Available: iOS/Android - Free

Impossible Rush

Who: Ben Pasternak, 15

What: A very simple yet addictive game involving tapping a colourful square to collect balls. Ben's app was downloaded 500,000 times in six weeks and brought Google and Facebook to his door.

Available: iOS/Android - Free

Doodle Kids

Who: Lim Ding Wen, 9

What: Simple and so easy to use, Doodle Kids was written by a then nine-year-old Singapore boy for his sisters. Draw random pictures using different colours and shapes, use your own photos in the drawing and then you can share with friends when your creation is complete.

Available: iOS/Android - Free

Bustin Jieber

Who: Thomas Suarez, 12

What: Like whack-a-mole for everyone's favourite/most-hated Canadian popstar. Thomas made the game after realising a lot of his schoolmates didn't like the Sorry singer.

Available: iOS - HK$8 (for a similar-ish Bieber game, try Android's Celebrity Justin Bieber - Free)

Doodle Destroy

Who: Abdulrahman Al Zanki, 14

What: This deceptively simple gravity game involves removing red blocks without losing control of a smaller blue block. It's lots of fun and has been downloaded more than 1.3 million times. With his talent for app designing, Abdulrahman has gone on to have more of his coded creations featured in app stores.

Available: iOS/Android - Free
