Superheroes and villains invade the Playstation Network, but not in a game - it's a television show! Yes the newest thing to watch on your Playstation 4 is a live action adaptation of Marvel Comics' Powers comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.

Powers is basically a cop show that follows a now-powerless former superhero, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley), who works as a Los Angeles police detective in the "Powers" division - a squad that deals with super-powered criminals. Along with his rookie partner Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), he has to solve the death of a beloved superhero.

Meanwhile, in the shadows of a high-security cell located deep underground, "Wolf" (Eddie Izzard) - Walker's mentor, and the man that robbed him of his powers - is slowly planning his escape.

The pacing of the first few episodes is rather slow, methodically laying foundations for the show. This is nice, thought - it allows viewers to absorb what's going on and get a firmer understanding of this fictional universe and Walker's backstory.

While it may not be as exciting as Arrow or The Flash, the writing and storytelling is more interesting, because the show is not just about superheroes and the evil villain of the week.
