Returning to the small screen after 20 years and still defending the Earth is an all new Sailor Moon anime. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal is a retelling of the beloved manga/anime series that follows the adventures of Usagi Tsukino/ Sailor Moon and her band of friends as they fight the evil Queen Beryl.

Queen Beryl is after the legendary Phantom Silver Crystal, an object of immense power that will enable her to take over the world. The crystal is somewhere in Usagi's hometown, so Queen Beryl sends her minions there to ferret it out. They then magically enlist unsuspecting humans to help.

The storyline in the new series is said to be closer to the one in the manga, and will feature an artistic style similar to that of Naoko Takeuchi, the manga's creator. Voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi will reprise her career-defining role of Sailor Moon, while the rest of the characters will be voiced by new talents.

New episodes of the show will be shown on the first and third Saturday of each month. The show is being aired on the live streaming site Niconico for free with the original Japanese audio and English, traditional and simplified Chinese subtitles.
