Spider-Man has been swinging across movie screens for a couple of weeks, but if you haven't had quite enough of good ol' Webhead, check out the Amazing Spider-Man 2 mobile game from Gameloft, for iOS/Android platforms.
The game spins a web that not only ties into the movie storyline, but expands on it with a glimpse of what's to come in the next movie.
From swinging across Manhattan and standing atop the Empire State Building, to beating bad guys to a pulp using insane acrobatic finesse, the gameplay is immensely satisfying for fans of Spidey, or of mobile games in general.
The graphics are exceptional for a mobile game - very detailed, and they run smoothly; and the game mechanics make web-swinging and fighting bad guys an absolute breeze.
There are a couple of things that irk me as a gamer. In purely practical terms, I resent the need to have an internet connection before you can start playing. The repetitive general missions are also tiresome. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to rush to a crime scene and save helpless New Yorkers, but it gets a bit dull when the umpteenth person falls off a building and needs Spidey to save them. I guess that's the responsibility that goes with having great power.
At just HK$38, this is a great investment. Yes, there are in-game purchases but they're not crucial.
Basic requirements: iPad 2 (or newer) or iPhone 4s (or newer); Android 4.0 or above. Internet connection is required.
