Criminal” by Adaline

A gothic tale about a girl who wants to be loved despite all the troubles and peril that might land her in a bad state. Googled it ... can’t even find this song. So enjoy your very, very obscure tune. That is available on iTunes though for some odd reason.

Closer (feat. Jennie A)” by Lemaitre

A song of a girl with Luna’s voice hoping for someone to sweep her off her feet and to take her out of her life. The very last time I ever dared to sweep someone off her own feet, that someone asked me to take myself out of her life. So, mission accomplished?

Ross Chan Cheuk-wai, 16, HKBUAS Wong Kam Fai S&P School

Bad 4 Us” by Superfruit

A great song to tide us over until Superfruit’s new EP Future Friends, Scott and Mitch’s voices work so well together in this track - couple it with a catchy tune and beat, and I’m sold.

Symphony” by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson

I really enjoyed the overall mood of this piece - it’s gentle, chill, and laidback. The music video, which I discovered during a Youtube spiral, is also quite thought-provoking.

Leeann Tong, 16, Sha Tin College

No Vacancy” by OneRepublic

This electric tune is sure to get your summer vibes going. Chill and catchy, this is the track you need.

Young by The Chainsmokers

Even though the Chainsmokers basically use the same chords for every song, you can’t help but dance along. The smooth electro beat is perfect for relaxing, you can loop it for hours and still be dancing to it!

Charlotte Arianni Fong, 14, International Christian School

Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man

Funky and swinging, the Alaska rockers lead single off their new album, Woodstock is the grooviest song you’ll hear this year. Its distinctive and catchy bass riff will tempt you into dancing away all summer long.

Young Dumb and Broke by Khalid

In this youthful ballad taken off his excellent debut album, Khalid croons about making the most of his adolescence with a voice so deep, soulful and, mature that it’s hard to believe he's only 19. With  Joel Little (who brought us Lorde) producing this lo-fi beat, this is the perfect companion to a long blissful Hong Kong summer.

Christopher Tan, 21, Pitzer College

Thunder - Imagine Dragons

Layed-back beat, smooth, easy to listen to, and a catchy chorus.

Something Just Like This - The Chainsmokers and Coldplay

A fusion between two unique styles create a relaxed and cool version of EDM grooves.

Malcolm McNicol, 20, Heriot-Watt University

Despacito Remix - Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Justin Bieber

If you forget about the fact that Justin Bieber doesn’t actually know the Spanish lyrics, this is a really fun song. The mix of reggaeton and pop is really new and refreshing for the mainstream pop culture.

That’s What I Like - Bruno Mars

Catchy song with hilarious lyrics, what's not to love?

Julia Kan, 17, Northfield Mount Hermon School
