The phonetically-titled Cuzznz by Daz Dillinger and Snoop Dogg, aka Daz-N-Snoop, slipped under the radar with its low-key January release.
Opener Have U Eva is a strong intro to the collaboration, reminiscent of Snoop's classic west coast hip hop roots. Six n'da Morning is a pretty solid track, too, while Can You Feel Me is a typical ode to street life and "staying true to the crew".
After a strong start, things veer downhill. Happy Birthday and It's Not a Secret are tedious and repetitive, and though Best Friend tries to switch things up with a slower, chill-out track, it ends up being forgettable.
Guest appearances by Dam-Funk and Kurupt mean there's no lack of talent on Cuzznz, but this isn't quite the passion project it could have been.
With no distinct narrative, drama, or emotive lyrics, this hip hop album lacks fire. Daz-N-Snoop sacrifice depth for a shot at a mainstream hit - and that's the album's key flaw.
