Maybe The Last time we get excited for a Naruto movie [Review]

We had high expectations for The Last: Naruto the Movie. Based on the famous manga, Naruto, we expected it to summarise the 700 manga editions and six anime films that preceded it. Sadly, it doesn't live up to its potential.

The film follows the titular ninja as he prepares to save Earth from being destroyed. Toneri Otsutsuki, a sort of alien living on the moon (seriously?), bears a grudge against Earthlings, and believes he must blow up the moon to release the weapon of mass destruction sealed within. Naruto, obviously, has to stop this - a typical "save-the-world" plot.

Add to this a captured girlfriend, and you have the ultimate Dullsville. This lack of interesting plot is possibly because all the effort was spent on special effects. The battles are pretty impressive: crackling fire, fierce thunderstorms and howling wind are all very realistic.
