The baby-faced singer has grown; this album radiates maturity, proving he's no longer the tracksuit-clad kid who complimented girls in a pizza bar.
The title track is a strong opener: over uptempo beats, Kingston introspectively sings: "Going through a dark place, dark time ... I was feeling like do or die".
Tracks like Shotta Luv and Ordinary Girl showcases an increased repertoire of beats. He also gives pop-rock a try in Save One for Me, with mixed results.
Kingston has had some memorable party tracks in the past - namely Beautiful Girls and Fire Burning; and he's stepped up his game here, without throwing himself into the usual abyss of drug references and offensive slang.
Back 2 Life is the star's refreshing coming-of-age album, both musically and lyrically. Welcome back to life, Sean.
