Giants mindlessly roam the Earth, devouring humans in the new action anime Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), and only an army of specially trained soldiers are equipped to kill them.

Mankind has been forced to regress to an almost medieval existence by humanoid giants called Titans, nearly indestructible beings with an appetite for human flesh. To protect themselves, humans built 50-metre-high walls to surround the cities.

The Titans are extremely hard to kill: they have only one weak spot, located at the base of the neck, where a deep cut will kill them. To be in with any chance of protecting the human population, special rigs are set up and operated by these specially trained soldiers.

The story revolves around Eren Jaeger, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. After Eren's mother is killed by a new breed of Titan, all three join the special forces.

Attack on Titan is based on the award-winning manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama in 2009. For those who can't wait for the anime to reach Hong Kong, Kodansha Comics USA has published an English version of the manga. Volume 5 was released on June 4, so pick up a copy to see what all the hype is about this manga/anime that has been touted as a once-in-a-decade hit.
