To mark World Book Day on Tuesday, Young Post presented almost 200 books to local students on Wednesday to encourage them to get reading.

Publisher Scholastic donated the books, which include some of its most popular primary school series, such as Geronimo Stilton, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Magic School Bus and I Spy, plus toys with do-it-yourself instructions involving fun craft activities.

The ever-popular Hunger Games trilogy and 365 Conspiracy series will be sent to secondary schools.

The books for younger readers were distributed to seven primary schools, by social enterprise Playtao.

Young Post editor, Susan Ramsay, went to Lions Clubs International Ho Tak Sum Primary School with the first books.

"Sharing the magic of books with such young students was delightful," Ramsay said. "I hope by next year those books are falling apart because they've been used so often."
