This round we asked: What's your best karaoke song?

As the daughter of a guitar-obsessed father, I was immersed in music from a very young age. There was a song, Fly Me to the Moon, that was constantly with me during my childhood. I will always love that song. Back in the days when the only audience I had during karaoke parties were my parents, my father and I would perform a little duet for my mum.

These days, as my friends dance to Psy's Gangnam Style at parent-free karaokes, I sometimes close my eyes and imagine that it is just me, my parents and the romantic melody of Fly Me to the Moon.

Currently, it's Blow Me (One Last Kiss) by Pink. It's very catchy and it doesn't matter if you sing well or not - everyone joins in, all dancing (flailing if you're me) to the beat. Even though it's supposed to be a song about a break-up, there's something about the lyrics that makes you feel upbeat, even happy. My friends and I sing our hearts out together - "I think I've finally had enough, I think I maybe think too much, I think this might be it for us (blow me one last kiss)" - and it cheers me up immensely.

My karaoke song has to be Dancing Queen by Abba. It's a classic song that can be found in almost every karaoke machine. I fell in love with the song when I was 11 while watching the musical Mama Mia!. I've never stopped loving it since. It's easy to sing and dance along to the upbeat melody and catchy lyrics. I may not be a very good dancer but I'd never miss a chance to dance.

Of course, I have extensive karaoke experience. Apart from visiting karaoke restaurants, I've been known to sing off-key in fitting rooms and on public transport with my friends, and totally owning it.

As a 100 per cent pure Hongkonger and a native Cantonese speaker, Eason Chan Yik-shun's Canto-pop is at the top of my list. Among his songs, my all-time favourite is Life is Like a Song. When I was small and TVB still had great dramas, I watched Triumph in the Skies. I was attracted to its theme song Life is Like a Song.

I picked this song for my first karaoke experience. Canto-pop is unlike Western pop. We can taste the lyrics bit by bit. I can imagine the image created by the lyrics. "Weather is not as good as expected, but I still need to go and fly away."

"I don't wanna let a minute get away, cause we got no time to lose" - this is what I believe in when singing at a karaoke party, as expressed in Never Close Our Eyes by Adam Lambert. A male vocalist! Surprising, right? Lambert belts out the high notes really well and we can sing his songs to our heart's content, like there is no tomorrow.

Never Close Our Eyes will always be a dynamic song choice when the party is getting dull. You will remind your mates to "fight the sleep in their eyes" as you amp up your voice.

Lillian Wong, 16, The Chinese Foundation Secondary School

I really love music and enjoy singing. But among many of my favourite songs, I love to sing Hero by Mariah Carey the most. I think it's a tough one to sing. Actually, I seldom like songs with plain tones because I think they are too dull and don't stand out. I would prefer listening to a song with a surging melody which can evoke memories of my childhood. Moreover, I like the lyrics of Hero. They inspire and encourage me not to give up when I'm faced with difficulties. I often sing it when I feel helpless and it soon fills me with confidence. Then I know there's a hero in my heart!

Ice Chan, 13, St Rose of Lima's College

For me, the song I'm Yours by Jason Mraz is my top karaoke song. This amazing song was introduced to me at my cousin's wedding in Bali, Indonesia, about a year ago. The banquet took place in an open area next to a creamy white church where they had the wedding ceremony. The sky was blue and the church was facing the seashore. It was just terrific that this song was played as the bride and bridegroom strolled into the church. I could feel their love as shown in this song.

I practise this song every day in the shower. Some day I hope to be able to sing it really well so that I can sing it to people who are in love.
