Passion Pit's leading man Michael Angelakos has poured his heart, soul and struggles into the band's latest release, Gossamer. Overall, he's matured as an artist and writer.

The opener Take a Walk is an exception - in the chorus anyway. It's unimaginative - repeated "take a walk"s, along with the odd "oh-oh-oh" thrown in doesn't cut it in the lyrics department. But the music video is creative: a first-person view from a bouncing ball.

I'll Be Alright is as off the chart as it gets, sounding like a mix of Daft Punk - with mash-up sounds and warped samples - and Pet Shop Boys' retro electro dance.

Constant Conversations makes its mark as the pared-down, slow-jammer with hints of R&B. The background vocals by Swedish a capella group Erato are brilliantly layered over synthesised vocals.

Angelakos has said that On My Way is dedicated to his dearly beloved. It sounds very much like a plea for her support. His passion is undeniable, coming across almost as if straight out of a musical. Now that's love.
