Madonna returns to the world of pop with her 12th studio album, MDNA. The album features the two hit singles Give Me All Your Luvin' and Girl Gone Wild.

Girl Gone Wild is successful in the way it offers a good beat and melody, making it perfect for dancing. The lyrics are slightly repetitive, which is a little off-putting. I thought Madonna's voice might play a more dominant role in the song, but instead it's soft and somewhat drowned out despite the strong lyrics.

Masterpiece is one of the better tracks on the album. While Girl Gone Wild and a couple of others are fast-flowing with an electronic sound, this track goes back to basics with an effective rhythm and melody. Madonna's voice really shines through - it's sweet and pure.

Even though it was a singles chart-topper, Give Me All Your Luvin' did not really work for me. The melody was cheerful and bubbly, but Madonna's voice doesn't quite work with the music. She lacks energy here. The cheerleader style chant - spelling words out - sounds a little tacky as well. However, the song is a real mood booster that I would recommend on a bad day.

Overall, I feel this album doesn't have Madonna's old spark. It feels as if she's trying to be something she's not. But then again, there are some great beats in the tracks, making it an ideal party album.
