1. Hot Honey Lemon Water
Hot honey lemon water is my favourite. It's easy to make.
All you need is a few slices of lemon and some spoonfuls of honey. The lemon's sourness blends well with the taste of sweet honey. Honey can also moisten your throat on dry winter days.
2. Warm Milk
Creamy and simple, warm milk is one of the most traditional tummy warmers. With its soothing abilities, this drink is a must for cold winter nights.
All my Norwegian friends suggest this Norwegian blackcurrant drink. It comes in packets at some supermarkets. But it is a rare find.
4. Boiled Coke with Ginger
The drink is common in cha chaan teng, the Hong Kong-style tea houses. Steaming hot coke is served with some fresh boiled ginger slices. From the Chinese medicinal point of view, ginger helps improve blood circulation.
It is a fascinating experience to taste the familiar cold soft drink in a warm new way!
5. Caramel Macchiato
The caramel flavour satisfies your sweet tooth even as it warms up your tummy - when it's blended with aromatic espresso. If you are not a fan of caffeine, you can request a decaf one. Caramel Macchiato is available in Starbucks.
6. Hot Salty Mandarin
First, you put mandarin slices into a jar with salt and sugar. Then, you wait for a year until they become sweet and salty. Mix them with warm water and there comes your hot and salty mandarin drink.
The idea is that the longer you keep the mandarins, the better they taste. Many Chinese people believe it is the best cure for sore throat.
You can either make the drink yourself or knock on your neighbours' doors if they are traditional enough.
A mixture of water and meat extract, the drink was invented and made in Britain. It has a distinctive salty taste and can be more satisfying than any sweet drink. You can get it in big supermarkets.
8. Gingerbread Latte
The taste and smell of gingerbread latte are a combination of smooth espresso and velvety steamed milk.
A hint of ginger can spice up the coffee, warming you up from the inside out.
My favourite brew of the drink is at Starbucks.
9. Hot Chocolate
You can make your own cup of chocolate with any chocolate powder available in local supermarkets.
If you'd rather not bother, then get an instant treat from cafes like Starbucks, McCafe and Pacific Coffee.
10. Vita Soy Milk
Here's my choice (besides all the yummy drinks others here like): Vita Soy Milk. You can get this all-time classic at any corner store.
I enjoy wrapping my mittens around a warm glass of the beverage in the middle of a freezing winter.
