In addition some of the light-hearted moments are out of place and even laughable.
Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) and ex-cop Brian (Paul Walker) flee to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to escape federal agents. Desperate for money, they take a job but are double-crossed by mobster Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida). But they discover where Hernan has stashed US$100 million in cash.
So they assemble a team - Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), Han (Sung Kang), Gisele (Gal Gadot) and Vince (Matt Schulze) - to pull off the ultimate heist, partly out of revenge and partly to gain freedom. Meanwhile, agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and his elite team land in Rio to try to thwart their plans.
The motive for pulling one final job is obscured in shaky logic. Dom says: "Running ain't freedom." For some reason, they equate a US$100 million heist to freedom. Money can buy you a lot of things, but in the eyes of the law, it won't buy you that.
