Opening track Bridge Burning is on fire, with a tight beat and deft guitar notes. The song is a crowd-pleaser to be chanted by rock fans. The catchy melody screams to be played at the highest volume. It's the perfect start to a rock album.
Hit single Rope continues the mood with a catchy guitar riff and a lively beat. The track buzzes with energy that keeps the adrenaline high. The song ends with a surprise surge of riff-bombs as the melody fades, reminding you that there is still an entire album of tracks to get psyched about.
It's also refreshing to see Foo Fighters experiment with their sound. Most notably, former Nirvana member Krist Novoselic, who joins ex-Nirvana band mate Dave Grohl, shows off his bass and accordion-playing skills on I Should Have Known. He helps create a masterful power ballad with a hint of blues.
Wasting Light is chock-full of great foot-tapping, head-bobbing energy throughout.
