Conference helps boost ties between Chinese, Japanese youth
Students from Hong Kong, the mainland and Japan take part in various activities last year.The event will be organised by students and graduates from United World Colleges worldwide. It will provide an opportunity for mainland, Hong Kong and Japanese students to come together as Youth Ambassadors. They will work to develop mutual respect through fun activities.
Last August's event was a great success, said Stephen Cordington, a former principal of Li Po Chun.
Organisers divided participants into small groups so they could share their views and experiences. Various activities, including field trips, served to foster friendships between Chinese and Japanese students.
Vivian Lee, a former Li Po Chun student and one of the organisers of last year's programme, said participants benefited from their dialogues and helped "pass the spirit of the conference to [their] friends".
The theme of this year's programme is "Knowledge is Power". Participants will share their culture and history, overcome language barriers, and build lasting friendships.
Organisers hope this year's event will be even more successful.
