The film features an array of action veterans from the past two decades, including Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as more recent stars such as Jason Statham and Steve Austin. And, clutching onto any spotlit straw he can, Stallone serves as director, too.
The film is about a group of elite warriors whose mission is to overthrow a dictator, General Garza. Like all war hero films, things go wrong pretty early on, and this bunch of well-trained and well-armed fighters is forced to go on an extremely dangerous mission to save the day. They fight against super-powerful enemies and are desperately outnumbered but somehow manage to survive in the end.
The film is filled with jam-packed with boy-friendly action scenes, fighting and explosions. It's a treat for anyone who loves watching action and combat on the big screen, but the plot is virtually non-existent.
It's astonishing to see that some of these actors are still in the business - surely many of them are reaching retirement age. As for Schwarzenegger, doesn't he have a state to run?
