The album features a mix of genres. Opener It's Not Right is a rock-tinged track in which McPhee shows off her tough side while singing of life's frustrations. This is followed by Had It All, which starts softly and builds to an upbeat middle section, and McPhee sings about realising how a love she had was really good.
How is a less upbeat number; but although it is full of questions, ultimately it is about being hopeful and setting yourself free. Most of the softer songs display a vulnerability, or discuss pain or uncertainty.
Highlights include Lifetime and the bonus track Brand New Key, two very refreshing and cheerful tracks, especially compared to the majority of the songs on the album, which have a tendency to be a bit heavy.
