More of a good thing
The opening track, We Are Golden, peaked at No 4 on the British singles charts, with Mika reportedly spending HK$285,000 on drinks for his fans at his local pub when it was released.
By the Time - also released as a single - features a catchy chorus, intriguing lyrics (courtesy of Imogen Heap), and a subtly compelling and relaxing backing track.
As for the album overall, it has a good mix of downbeat tracks and boppier offerings, some of which will make you want to get up and dance. Blue Eyes, for example, has a touch of Latin styling to it.
The deluxe version features two CDs - one a studio version and the other, Mika Live @ Sadler's Wells.
Perhaps this second album offers little in the way of musical progression from the debut, but that is unlikely to disappoint fans of Mika, and will probably win him some new ones too.
Check out the great cover design for the album too. It is reportedly inspired by illustrations in children's books.
