Hong Kong's gaming otaku are looking forward to the biggest video games event of the year: the Asian Game Show (AGS). And, after last year's visibly poor attendance, this year AGS is joining forces with the Hong Kong Online Game Show in what will hopefully be an attendance-boosting move. Online gaming is an ever-growing sector, with tens of millions of gamers battling it out in numerous online arenas, such as World of Warcraft and Chinese Hero (Chung Wa Ying Hung).
Sony kicks things off with two football giveaways that include a football signed by Lionel Andres Messi - it goes to the first person who buys a Winning Eleven 2010 Limited Edition Pack (HK$1,599) for the Sony PlayStation Portable. The second person to purchase the pack will get a jersey signed by Spanish player, Fernando Jose Torres Sanz.
This year's official education partner is the Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad), which will be showcasing the much-anticipated Augmented Reality game ARhrrrr. The game features a mobile platform device that provides a window into a 3D town overrun with zombies. Scad is opening a campus in Hong Kong that will offer Bachelor's and Master's degree courses. College representatives will be available to explain the various digital media courses available. Scad's first semester starts in September.
